A Skypan is used for lighting up scenery outside a window or door on a set. A pan is a circular unit with a slight lip around its perimeter. Laid flat, it appears similar to a frying pan (without a handle). A detachable socket clamps to the lip and positions the lamp filament in the centre of the pan. Most pans have an on/off switch in the detachable socket. Some sockets have the cable attached, while others have detachable cables. A male pin plug is at the feed end.
