The all new Falcon Eyes ROLL-FLEX 8-series is now in stock at Southern Lighting Solutions.
With its advanced lighting control system, which can create a wide range of lighting effects with its RGBWW LED technology. The new lighting control system gives you amazing flexibility and control of color temperature, with step less adjustments from 2800K to 10000K, as well as Green and Magenta adjustments.
Fixture Modes include, RGB colour adjustment, HSI (Hue, Saturation, Intensity) colors adjustment.

More Colour control :

The new Falcon Eyes ROLLFLEX 8-Series has a built-in Gel mode, giving you access to a variety of commonly used film filters from LEE and ROSCO. You will only need to select the filter code to quickly generate the colour effect that you want to create on set.

The all new 8-Series controller brings an upgraded built-in Effects mode, with even more preset lighting effects, like; cop car light, candle light, lightning, Tv, etc. The Effects mode can instantly create special lighting effects in studio environments, with adjustable settings at your finger tips.

DMX and App Control:

In addition, it is equipped with high-resolution 16Bit PWM to DMX-512 signal output, and it supports DMX control system as well as smartphone application (Desal APP) to allow even more possibilities for remote controlling.

With the new control system, you can bring to life various lighting effects in an instant, taking your shoots to the next level.

Emperors Palace is getting ready to host the 11Th annual Garden of Lights, a magical festive season event that guarantees to light up Gauteng skies between 30 November 2018 and 02 January 2019.  The Garden of Lights was created to spread festive cheer through spectacular light displays, colourful characters, fun fair rides and delicious food offerings.  The Garden of Lights will take place in the perfectly manicured gardens of the five-star Peermont D’oreale Grande hotel at Emperors Palace.

“Over the years the Garden of Lights has welcomed over 1.4 million visitors, and promises to welcome countless more with the fantastic family-friendly activities we have planned for this year,” says Clive Tavener, General Manager for Emperors Palace.  “The Garden of Lights is our way of bringing back the days when mom and dad would bundle the whole family into the car to go and see the Christmas lights in town.”

Not only will families be mesmerised by the spectacular lights display, children will also have an opportunity to take pictures with Santa Claus, the enchanted fairy, Gift the present, the gingerbread man, Frosty the Snowman, Santa’s Special Elves and Emperors Palace’s very own beautiful Garden Princess!  The fun doesn’t stop there – explore the Enchanted Garden filled with spell-binding secrets and delightful surprises before skipping over to the Mystic Castle and Magic Sweet Shop, where a selection of the yummiest treats can be purchased!  Don’t forget to take a stroll to the North Pole for a peek into Santa’s Workshop.

If that’s not enough, for the first time in South Africa, International Illusionist Ryan Sharp will present his show “The Magic of Christmas” from 30 November 2018 to 02 January 2019. An amazing show featuring grand scale illusion, ventriloquism, comedy magic, complimented with dazzling special effects and costumes will bring magic to children young and old.   Tickets to The Magic of Christmas are R80 per person.  Please visit tixsa.com for show times and to book tickets.  For school group bookings, please contact 082 228 9660.

After strolling through the garden, visitors can grab a refreshing drink and bite to eat at one of the food and beverage stalls. The Garden of Lights will also feature a variety of fun-fair rides, including Jump and Smile, Break Dancer, Freeway Fantasy, Prate ship and everyone’s all-time favourite, the big Ferris Wheel (located at the garden entrance – from 3 December only)!

Tickets to the Garden of Lights are R25 per person or R100 for the show and garden package. Children under the age of two enter for free.  Bookings are essential and can be made by visiting www.emperorspalace.com. The gates will be open from 19h00 to 22h00 daily (Last entery at 09:30), weather permitting.  In the event of overcast and rainy weather, ticket holders will be contacted via SMS to move their booking.  Please note that the entry fee excludes fun fair rides, food or beverage, and entrance to The Magic of Christmas.

Rosco Silks – Pure, soft white light

The Rosco’s Silk series has arrived and is now available for rental from Southern Lighting Solutions.

These fixtures are a LED lighting system that has been specifically developed for Film and Video applications.

Perfect for situations that demand colour-accurate, high-quality light, the new range of Silks utilises state-of-the-art tungsten and daylight balanced LEDs. The Silk 110, 210 and 305 create a high volume of broad-spectrum white light. The Silks fixtures have a colour temperature from 2800K – 6500K.

The units feature a non-glare diffuser to provide uniform, single source light, while optional barn doors and magnetic egg crate louvers are available for beam control. They also come with a 100 – 240 AC power supply, which enables worldwide use and are compatible with V-lock batteries.

Southern Lighting Solutions is pleased to announce that the Filmgear F1,8k Daylight Par Faceted fixtures, in their rental fleet, now come with an 1000Hz, high speed Electronic Ballast.
The Filmgear F1.8k has a specially designed faceted reflector and boasts the latest tech.
It is an asset on any set.
Each fixture in the faceted par range has a colour temperature of 5600K and an operating range of +45º ~ 0º ~ -45º. Accessories include lamp head to ballast cable of 15 meters, 4-leaf rotatable barn door, set of 4 Scrims (full single, full double, half single, half double), scrim bag, safety cable, safety wire and spillring.

We are incredibly proud to have worked with you on this production.

“We are extremely proud and honoured to have finally reached this stage of the SAFTAs 11,” said Zama Mkosi, CEO of the National Film and Video Foundation.

“We as the NFVF would like to congratulate all the nominees and hope to encourage the industry to continue striving while setting its own rules around what success looks like for the business of film.”

The awards will take place from 16 to 18 March at Sun City and will be shown live on SABC at 8pm on 18 March.
